Lake Garda represents not only a splendid naturalistic frame for thousand occasions of sport and culture. It is a stepping stone among three districts: Veneto, Trentino-South-Tyrol and Lombardy. A bridge that joins resort's relax and a huge range of entertainment and fun.
Apart from the wine and food offer, the surroundings of Val di Sogno, between the mountain and the lake nearby Malcesine, present a real unique menu of sites and cultural events. On one side amusing activities to keep fit also during vacation, having fun with family and friends. On the other, food for the mind of which nourishing yourself, alone or in good company, just following your own rhythm enriching, learning and making treasure of the artistic beauties present on the territory.
From Malcesine-Val di Sogno every place can be reached, above all the splendid cities of art, music and Italian style.
Three provinces, three different landscapes and three cultures… a huge range of thins to discover and visit also in one day time, thanks to the good combinations of streets (private or rent car, public bus, local travel agency’s excursion-bus) and water (boats for both passengers and cars).
Malcesine is really a good point of start. It is situated directly on the lake shore, it has a lovely harbor as well as a good-managed marina yacht club from where you can begin a lot of interesting trips and reach quite all the charming villages situated on the lake’s side.
It has the fortune to have a modern wholly rotating cableway to the Monte Baldo (mountain) which is one of most spectacular natural atmospheres of the whole alpine arc, theatre for countless activities: tours, walks, trekking, mountain-bike, paragliding, natural ways …
In northern direction at short distance, you reach Tenno, Ledro and Gresta Valleys with their small mountain lakes and local productions. As if by magic, you continue and meet cities with great tradition and history as Trento, Rovereto (do not miss the Mart-Museum of Modern Art) and then Bolzano, Merano or the more romantic Bressanone and Vipiteno.
Do not forget a pepping up visit in one of the many resorts of the "most beautiful mountains of the world", the famous Dolomites.
Towards south, at a little distance, there is Castelletto di Brenzone, meeting point for spirituality where in peacefulness and serenity you can pray, learn, meditate and contemplate the world from another more inner point of view and make experiences of faith and devotion.
Going ahead in southern direction you find the connections with the hinterland, where to admire the lake from another panoramic position and to discover a land of wine, the marvelous Valpolicella area, a real international attraction for the magnificence of the countryside and the food and wine events in progress all the year round.
Leaving the wine rows here Verona, city of music embodied by one of the most world-wide suggestive temples: The Arena. It is also the capital of "Love", thanks to its old-fashioned bridges, the taverns and little shops where to buy local products, the churches and historical palaces, the many rests of roman age and of course that famous balcony of Juliet in the "heart" of the city. Thanks its position it is also an extra point of departure for new excursions. To the West you arrive at Bergamo and the charming medieval upper town, reachable in funicular. Then Milan, the fashion and Italian style city "par excellence" in the world, home land of shopping for all tastes and pockets, metropolis rich of social life and cultural events all the year round. To the East, by train or car, it does not take much to arrive at Vicenza, centre of the international gold and jewels fair, and proceed to Venice, the most beautiful city in the world, in the whose atmospheres you might lose yourself and whose memories will last your whole life. Southern from Verona, you turn up into Mantua, centre of the Italian and European Renaissance, declared as human heritage site (Unesco).
Remaining on the lake, covering the Gardesana coast street which joins also all the villages of the western side from Limone to Sirmione, you can admire "our" riverside and the Monte Baldo district from another viewpoint.
From Val di Sogno-Malcesine you can reach many easy and quick destinations, some full of history and other more with entertainment's facilities. Occasions to savour the Italian products like real pizza, homemade ice cream or a good wine glass, tasted while walking in the old town centres. You can also abandon yourself to the wildest entertainments in the Italian number one amusement park Gardaland or dive into the aquatic park of Caneva full of attractions, in the southern part of the lake.
A world of opportunities to enjoy with friends or family, all interesting and not to be missed in order to make your free time really special, adding new arguments of conversation at your return in the hotel. Ah, do not your camera!
